RDC HOLDS SEM-WORKSHOP ON ENHANCING RESEARCH CAPABILITY & PRODUCTIVITY

The Research & Development Center (RDC) of the RCC held its annual professionaldevelopment of both teaching and non-teaching personnel to enhance their research capability and productivity on April 18, 20, 25, & 27, 2017. The four sessions highlighted the various aspects of research, from the rudiments and processes of conducting researches. The main discussants were Dr. Gloria B. Abrazado, VPAA, Dr. Jaime R. VISION

          The RCC Guidance and Counseling Office envisions itself  to be a potent factor in recognizing and strengthening the formation of total personhood and uniqueness of students to become living, growing, and fully-functioning individuals.

 

MISSION

          The Office shares in the pursuit of the school’s mission by carrying out a comprehensive guidance program that focuses on what students should know, understand, and able to do in order to develop into contributing members of the society. 

 

MAIN OBJECTIVE

          The main objective of the Guidance and Counseling Office is to assist students in reaching their full potential as well-rounded individuals who can develop realistic and fulfilling life plans based on clear understandings of themselves, their needs, interests, and skills. 

 

PHILOSOPHY

          The Guidance and Counseling Office believes that:

 

  1. Each student is a unique individual with different needs, talents, and concerns;

 

  1. Each student is capable of self-direction in problem solving and decision making;

 

  1. Each student has the right to full acceptance as an individual; and

 

  1. Each student has the responsibility to obtain maximum fulfillment through educational, social, and career channels.

 

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICES

 

          The Guidance and Counseling Office makes sure that its services and activities are well planned, executed, and evaluated for the benefit of the students and the school community. The following services are:

 

 A. Individual Inventory Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office conducts a continuous and cooperative process of gathering and documenting pertinent information on each student.

 

 B. Information Service

           The Guidance and Counseling Office accumulates and disseminates information about the different guidance activities, vocational opportunities, and educational information.

 

     1. Orientation

            The purpose of this activity is to help the students acquire or assimilate necessary knowledge about the role of the guidance counselors and the guidance services.  The orientation aims to establish rapport and provide an atmosphere of invitation for prospective counselees.

 

     2. Group Guidance

           The purpose of this activity is to discuss developmental  issues which are common to students such as understanding yourself and others, understanding feelings, getting along with others, solving problems, effective communication, resolving  conflicts, study skills, peer pressure, etc.

 

     3. Parent/Faculty Consultation

          The purpose of this activity is to confer with faculty members and parents to provide information that would help them understand their students and children respectively based on their needs, problems, interests, strengths, weaknesses, concerns, etc.

 

C. Counseling Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office handles personal encounter with students to assist them in understanding their own needs and difficulties, in gaining deeper awareness of their problems, and in making intelligent decisions.

 

     1. Individual Counseling

           Individual counseling is designed to promote and enhance student learning.  It helps students cope with developmental problems, prevent them or stop other problems from escalating. Students may receive counseling at their own request or by referrals from parents, teachers and staff.

     2. Group Counseling

          Group counseling is useful in working with four to eight students who are experiencing mutual concerns and/or developmental difficulties. Students work with each other in small group settings to provide support and positive encouragement to enhance school success. Students may become members of counseling groups at their own request, or by referrals from parents and teachers.

 

D. Follow-up Service

            The Guidance and Counseling Office continuously monitors students’ progress to determine if further assistance is needed.

  

E. Referral Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office refers to appropriate agencies the special cases which require services beyond the scope of the guidance and counseling program.

 

F.  Career and Placement Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office assists students to progress satisfactorily from one year level to another and helps them find their appropriate place in the field of work.

 

G. Testing Service

           The Guidance and Counseling Office uses appropriate standardized tests to assess students’ mental abilities, adjustment skills, personality traits, work values and emotional quotient to    collect pertinent data for guidance and counseling purposes.

 

H. Evaluation Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office assumes accountability through the evaluation of the nature, structure, organization, and implementation of school guidance programs and the school      guidance counselors.

 

I.  Research Service

          The Guidance and Counseling Office conducts studies in areas like student needs and student-teacher relations.  Results of these studies serve as guideposts for educational planning and   upgrading services.
